That old saying ‘the best things in life are free’ is usually reserved for a romantic personal notion and not for business. If it wasn’t, well we would all be registered charities wouldn’t we? In business, if something is offered for free, it typically means there’s another version that’s much better, that’s not free. And free product data? Sure it’ll be capable of populating a web store, but will it fulfill all the different types of buyers? When really exciting development arrives, will your systems support anything other than the over simplified csv files that are pushed around the channel? The answer to these questions is No! Simplified data shouldn’t mean that you sacrifice quality of enrichment to the point that you can't differentiate your website, or create best in class navigation. No! simplified data isn’t free. It's well crafted product data that will sit where it should, in a richly populated database full of attributes you can educate and tease consumers with. Furthermore, if you invest in a truly enriched product data set, that sits in a proper database, when AI and AR comes you will be among the first to skillfully use and adapt tomorrows data today.
